The Wanderer Returns

3rd September 2016

It’s been a long time since I last updated my site. Two reasons :- firstly I have been real busy and away a lot and secondly because I forgot the access code.
So, here’s an update on what has been happening.
The annual Alaska trip went off very well in July and we had great weather which is always a bonus. The river (Kanectoc) was in top form and I have never before seen such a huge run of char. Lot’s of really good sized fish too (up to 28 inches) although I think these big numbers probably pushed the grayling upriver a bit earlier than usual so they were a little harder to find. Sockeye run was staggering and these beautiful fish are such fun to catch. This being an even year the Humpies were all over the river and great fun on lighter gear.
Chinook (kings) were back in numbers and best landed was around 30lbs on back bouncing gear in the lower river and on fly it was Eddie Feakes with is first to cap off a thrilling trip for him. Rainbows continue to amaze guests when mouse fishing.
We did the now annual road trip down to Seward to see the harbour, the Sealife Centre and then the Wildlife Centre and this day is a big hit with guests.
Now it’s time to begin planning 2017 and numbers look real good so far.
