My Fishing Trips Abroad

Alaska, The Chosen River Alaska, Kodiak Island
Tierra Del Fuego, Rio Grande Canada, Great Bear Lake
Andros Island, Bone Fish Club British Columbia, Bell II Lodge

My fly fishing life has taken me to many locations and if I find a really good one I then arrange trips and escort groups of anglers on fishing holidays which I hope will be unforgettable.
I'm now 60 and have accumulated so much time in Alaska that a year and a half of my life has been spent there. It means that I know its fishing potential pretty well but I also have first hand experience of Iceland, Chile, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia, the Bahamas, Sweden, many parts of Canada, parts of the west coast USA and Florida as well as Ireland and parts of Europe.

Get to know an area well and you can have some wonderful sport but the reality for most of us is that we can never achieve that level of knowledge and must rely on others to show us how and where.
That's where guides come into the equation and a good guide is worth every penny he charges. I always use first class guide companies and expect to pay the going rate. If you have personal contacts and friends you should use them but otherwise you will need to pay to gain the knowledge to get the most from your precious time on holiday. Lots of people do trips on the cheap and do get lucky but most spend their time scratching around trying to find out what's going on and how to do it without ever really getting into the action.

I can tell you that the trips I run will give you every chance to be among the fish and that then it's largely up to you. The guides will give you the best possible advice and I will happily give you the benefit of the knowledge it has taken me years to acquire and if the conditions are on our side it's possible to have some great sport. The most important thing is to be adaptable and willing to learn and then you will succeed.
